Why we built Achoo

2026-04-15·2 min read

I've had severe hay fever for as long as I can remember. Every June, without fail, my eyes would stream, my throat would itch, and my energy levels would completely crash.

Like most sufferers, I relied on weather apps to tell me what to expect. But the experience was always frustrating. I'd open a massive, bloated weather app, tap through three different menus, and finally find a tiny icon at the bottom of the screen that just said "High".

High what? Tree pollen? Grass pollen? Was it going to be high all week?

Hay fever affects millions of people, significantly impacting our sleep, our mood, and our ability to enjoy the outdoors. Yet, the digital tools built to help us manage it have always felt like an afterthought—a minor feature bolted onto a general weather application.

I wanted something built specifically for us.

Enter Achoo

That frustration is why I built Achoo. I wanted a companion app that treated hay fever with the attention it deserves.

Achoo does one thing, and it does it well: it helps you understand your air. We pull in highly accurate, hyper-local data to give you a detailed breakdown of the pollen forecast. We don't just tell you it's "High"; we tell you that grass pollen is peaking while tree pollen is receding.

But data is only half the battle. The real breakthrough comes from understanding your body's response. That's why we built the symptom diary. By tracking how you feel and correlating it with the local forecast, Achoo learns your specific sensitivities.

This is just the beginning. We're currently working hard on Achoo+, which will bring this data to your wrist with a beautiful Apple Watch app and introduce AI-driven insights that act like a personal allergy assistant.

We're building the tool I always wished I had. I hope it brings you as much relief as it has brought me.
